About EAU 2016
The Annual EAU Congress provides a forum for presenting original unpublished data, sharing ideas for urological innovation, and disseminating evidence-based knowledge of primary clinical relevance. It is Europe’s biggest urological event and allows urological specialists and affiliated medical professionals from around the world to gather for a critical assessment of clinical practices and key research developments.
The 16th Annual EAU Congress, EAU16, was held in Munich, Germany, 11–15 March 2016.
More than 13,000 participants from 118 countries made EAU16 a success. Nearly 200 companies showcased their latest innovation at the EAU16 exhibition, and 1,425 speakers shared their knowledge in more than 300 sessions, resulting in over 4,400 scientific items in the EAU16 Resource Centre.
Plenary sessions, in the form of panel debates, case presentations, and state-of-the-art lectures and updates, covered issues from the most controversial and urgent in urology to the newest treatment strategies and best clinical practices.
Thematic sessions offered research updates in specific areas and the opportunity for participants to pose the pressing questions that confront them in daily practice. During abstract sessions, urologists acquired knowledge about the newest research studies from European and overseas institutions. And at section meetings, in-depth knowledge was shared in a broad range of urological specialties.
Live surgery sessions, attended not only by urologists but also by medical professionals working in related fields, delivered best practices by some of the world’s uro-surgical experts and tackled the challenges and practical issues faced by surgeons in practice.
The European School of Urology (ESU) presented a credited curriculum of continuing medical education (CME) and hands-on training courses, from core and basic specialties in urology to more advanced master class courses.
Finally, industry sessions provided the pharmaceutical and devices industries with a forum at which to offer plenary presentations of data, research, and facts on therapies and equipment in development.
